Aldi shopping

I don't usually hit so many stores in one day. This week is extra busy so I had to cram a lot of them into today. Aldi is kind of a different store. You have to put a quarter in to get a cart so that everyone puts theirs back when they are done and don't leave them in the parking lot. It cuts down on costs. You also need to bring your own bags or pay for some there at 5 or 10 cents each depending on what kind you want. I just take my reusable shopping bags from Meijer and Kroger as well as my bag I use to keep things cold during the summer. For some reason Scott loves this store something about the way things are up on the walls and the lights hang. He is a funny kid. I buy a lot of my fruits and veggies there recently. They have great prices on in season stuff and each week have a few things on Special. This week I got 2lbs for Strawberries for $2.38, 2 big tomatoes for 99cents, an avacado for 69 cents, bananas are almost always 39 cents a pound, and a bag of baby carrots that are regularly 99 cents. I also got 4 cans of refried beans at 69 cents a can (Brad loves bean and cheese burritos) and 3 cans of fruit cocktail in juice which is the little man's favorite for 85 cents a can. A good sale will get me this for 99 cents a can at other stores so I like this price everyday. I also picked up two cans of Tuna at 49 cents a can but I think it is going up to 59 cents per the can or it's coming down not sure which I haven't bought any in a while. Oh and a can of mandarin oranges for 49 cents. I actually think these are cheaper at Sam's club but I haven't made it over there in a while and I wanted them for a salad and Scotty loves them. Total spent $13.53.

My trips to Meijer and Target

We headed out to Target to pick up some oatmeal and waffles that I had coupons for and there was a sale on the oatmeal. So we got 4 boxes of Quaker oatmeal packets for $5.62 which is cheaper than even Aldi's price. I wish I had printed a couple more coupons when they were available but there wasn't much I could do since they were gone when I went looking for them. I also got two boxes of Eggo Whole Wheat Waffles for $1.50 total. Target has them on markdown for $1.75 and are offering $1 off coupons on their website and you can print two. While we were there I saw some huge boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios on clearance and had printed a couple of 55 cent off coupons from mypoints.com. It was the cheapest I could find but still not a super deal but when I got to the checkout they ran up for $2.48 which was an amazing deal for a 1lb 11.9ozs of cheerios after coupons less than $2 each. :)

Meijer is having their 10 for $10 sale buy 10 get one free. I used 50/2 coupons to get 4 boxes of Green Giant veggies for 50 cents each. This is cheaper than I can buy the veggies for and cook them myself for and Scotty loves them as do Brad and I. :) I also got two bags of Green Giant Steamers for free. I bought these on a seperate order knowing that in the past the computers at Meijer think that those coupons are the same ones as the box ones and they don't all double. I got two free boxes of Warm Delights and and two more for .25 cents each. These are so yummy and keeps me from eating to much if I make a whole batch of cookies or brownies. :) My favorite salad was on sale for $1 a bag and so were red, yellow, and orange peppers so I got a couple to use while cooking. I always check the end caps and areas of the store where they put the clearance items. I found the Beechnut yogurt nibblers on clearance for $1.61 last week I got an email with a coupon for $1/1 so I got those for 61 cents. We have never tried them so we will see if Scott likes them. I also got two bags of animal crackers for Scott to try at $1 each. I also picked up some more Danimals Drinkable yogurt because they are a favorite around here. They were on sale for $1.79 for the 6 pack. I also got 3 ears of corn and two boxes of Betty Crocker Scalloped potatoes for 50 cents each. Spent a grand total of 12.44 and saved 22.06. :)

Love saving money.

Sharing my bargains and finds of the week

So I have decided to start a blog on all my money saving adventures. I figure it's a great way to share all my great deals and yard sale finds. I love saving money almost as much as I love my family. This is my way to get to stay home with my little man and still not feel deprived of all the things money can buy. It's a great high for me when I find a great deal and save money.

This week I was able to get 4 packages of Huggies Diapers for less than $3. You cannot even imagine how excited I was about that. I had a coupon that gave me $20 at Kroger if filled a prescription there. So since I have been annoyed with Walgreens anyway I decided I would move Scott's prescription for his Prevacid over there. I am there all the time anyway so it won't be a problem to get it over there instead and they have a drive through too if I am not already shopping. So diapers were on sale for $8.99 and when you spend $15 they gave you another $3 off. Normally I would have split the order to get that twice but since I had to spend the whole $20 at once I passed on that. I also had 4 $3 off on package coupons. Total before tax 96 cents. :)

I also found some great yard sales on Saturday. There were many neighborhood sales all over town and those are my favorite because you get to hit a bunch of sales all at once. This week I went to Belleau Woods, Clearwater, and the Pinnacle. I have been looking for a little Adirondack chair for Scott for the front porch with no luck. I saw a set that had some but it was 2 chairs and a table which was just more than I needed. Then I saw it a little rocking chair that looked a lot like one of those chairs. So out I jumped to check it out. It was the perfect size and low to the ground so he won't fall out. I will have to sand off the writing (some little one did) and seal it or paint it before it will be a good outdoor chair but it was only $2 so I can't complain. I also found some great DVD's for Scott that the lady was selling 2 for $1. So we got some Wiggles, Winnie the Pooh, and Bob the Builder 6 total for only $3. The find of the day and the thing Scott loved the most was the Wooden Wonder Pets train. It's the cutest thing with an engine and two cars. It makes train noises and has 3 little wooden wonder pet cut outs. Scott took one look at it and said "Ming Ming" for the first time. For anyone that doesn't know anything about Wonder Pets that is the duck that is on the show. She likes to be the center of attention. Hmmm wonder who that reminds me of. :)

I'm out of time. Hopefully in the future I can get more of my deals and steals on here to inspire all the rest of you to get out there and save some money.
